Not many musicians could handle the chromatic harmonica as well as Jean-Baptiste Fréderic Isidor, Baron Thielemans, better known as Toots Thielemans. Arguably the most iconic jazz harmonica player of the 20th century, he played with musicians such as Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald and Jaco Pastorius. He had a great influence on others, including John Lennon.
To honor this jazz legend with just one instrument would not have done him justice. So we teamed up with Toots and built two instruments to his specifications. The Toots Mellow Tone is the first of the two and thanks to its short reeds and thin reed plates it has a warm, clear sound, ideal for ballads:
